Biography


An Indian Film and Theatre actor, Anshuman Jha was introduced to the stage with summer time acting workshops at Prithvi Theatre in 2000 at the young age of 14. He honed his acting skills at Barry John’s Imago School of Acting where, at 17, he was the youngest ever to have passed the Diploma Acting Course.

In 2010, Jha was recognized by Rediff.com as one of the Top Ten Bollywood Actors of the year for his debut feature film “Love, Sex Aur Dhokha-LSD”; Directed by Dibakar Bannerjee, India’s finest contemporary Film maker & produced by the queen of Indian television, Ekta Kapoor. He was the “Advertising Face of the Year 2011” by CNBC TV 18’s ‘StoryBoard’, with a host of commercial endorsements like Pepsi, Brooke Bond Red Label, Kaun Banega Crorepati (Indian version of ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’) & Tata Sky. Currently, Jha can be seen in commercials for Vicks, Chocolibe, Tata Sky, I CAN and Anmol Veg Munchies.

Jha’s last three releases “Yeh Hai Bakrapur”(2014), “X-Past Is Present” (2015) & “Chauranga” (2016) have won him both critical & commercial accolades. His upcoming releases include – “Robinhood Ke Pote”, “Mona_Darling” & “Pagla Ghoda”. Currently he can also be seen as the Lead Character in the Biggest Bollywood Musical of India – Jhumroo – at Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon.

Jha has also assisted film-maker Subhash Ghai on his films ‘Black & White”. He was also the Chief Assistant Director for the movie ‘Paying Guests’, assisting Paritosh Painter and Associate Director for the movie ‘Peter Gaya Kaam se’, assisting John Owen, Produced by UTV.

A graduate from St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, Jha started his stage appearances in Ramnath Tharwal’s “Jhagrapoor” & “Laalchi” in 2001. Since then he has acted in several eminent theatre productions which include Quasar Padamsee’s “Kindertransport”, Joy Fernandes’s “Chotu”, Girish Karnad’s “Bali” & Jaimini Pathak’s “The Boy Who Stopped Smiling”. In 2010, he represented India at Contact – World Theatre Festival, Manchester with the play “Dirty Talk”.

Jha enjoys taking his art to young budding talent and actively conducts theatre workshops for youngsters at any opportunity he gets. He is also trained in Taekwando, Parkour & Kalaripayatu alongwith Bollywood dancing, Jive & Rock’n Roll.
